Babe Ruth enjoyed children almost as much as he enjoyed hitting homeruns, and this combination is perfectly applied to canvas by renowned sports artist Darryl Vlasak. The artist brought together his love of art and sports, creating the most detailed original paintings of sports heroes such as Michael Jordan, Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa during their 1998 home run chase. However, his real passion is creating paintings form the all-time greats, such as Babe Ruth.
This modern color acrylic painting of “The Babe” is indicative of his fondness for bringing baseball to the children, revealing Ruth arm in arm with a child, and posing for a photo. You could imagine Babe speaking with the kid about the collection of bats in the foreground, explaining how he hits so many home runs. The likeness is so compelling, it appears the subjects have been created in 3-D. The 20" x 24” painting is framed to a dimension of 23.5” x 28."
