1957 was the year that the Braves won its first and only World Series championship while based in Milwaukee. The Braves won 95 games and lost 59 to win the National League pennant by eight games over the second-place St. Louis Cardinals.

The club went on to the 1957 World Series, where they faced the New York Yankees who had been to the World Series 8 times in the previous 10 years, winning seven of them. Pitcher Lew Burdette was the star and Most Valuable Player, winning three games, including the crucial seventh game played in New York City. An impressive 2.2 million fans watched the legends like Hank Aaron, Eddie Mathews, and Warren Spahn overtake the reigning World Champions.

The Braves and Yankees met in County Stadium three times in the series on October 5, 6 and 7. The Stadium hosted a spectacle like never before seen in Milwaukee. Large Braves Indian heads and smoking Tee Pee adorned the Walls of the Stadium while Red White and Blue linen banners hung throughout the inside and outside of the Stadium in celebration of the world's biggest sporting event of the time. The banners also hung across the outfield and infield walls, at the ticket booth and entrance to the Stadium as fans spilled in from across the country. This was the first World Series ever played in Milwaukee, and in game 3 both Mickey Mantle and Hank Aaron go the offense of both teams going as they each hit Home Runs which was quite the spectacle to bear witness to for the 45,804 people in attendance. In game 4 Mathews was the hero belting a 2-Run Homer in the 10th to walk off in victory in-front of another packed 45,804 County Stadium and changing the tide in the series. The Braves would take game 5 by a 1-0 score after Burdette threw a complete game shutout besting Yankees ace Whitey Ford.

This linen banner dates to the 1957 World Series and measures an impressive nine feet long by three feet high. The Red, White, and Blue banner features the Braves Logo in the center of the Red, White, and Blue color scheme and is offered in its original condition dating to the 1957 and 1958 World Series.
