Derived from the Hall of Famer Casey Stengel’s personal collection, offered here is an extraordinary black trophy bat commemorating the 1957 American League Champion New York Yankees. In 1957, the Yankees won their 23rd American League pennant, finishing a healthy eight games in front of the White Sox. The team was the perfect blend of veterans like Yogi Berra and Enos Slaughter, youngsters Elston Howard and Bill Skowron and, of course, Mickey Mantle who was in the prime of his career and won his second consecutive American League MVP Award. This bat in Casey’s home in Glendale, California according the letter of provenance that accompanies this item.
The bat has the engraved signatures and printed names of Casey Stengel, whose signature is the most prominent on the barrel, Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Enos Slaughter, Hank Bauer, Bobby Shantz, Bill “Moose” Skowron, Andy Carey, Frank Crosetti, Jerry Coleman, Johnny Kucks, Darrell Johnson, Don Larsen, Elston Howard, Art Ditmar, Jim Turner, Bob Grim, Joe Collins, Al Cicotte, Gil McDougald, Whitey Ford, Tommy Byrne, Jerry Lumpe, Bob Turley, Charlie Keller, Tom Sturdivant, Harry Simpson, Gus Mauch, Bob Richardson and Tony Kubek. Also engraved on the Louisville Slugger bat is “NEW YORK YANKEES AMERICAN LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 1957”. This item comes with a letter of provenance from Ryan Poland, who details the lineage of his family in relation to Casey Stengel and how this bat was acquired.
