Derived from the Hall of Famer Casey Stengel’s personal collection, offered here is an extraordinary black trophy bat commemorating the 1949 World Series Champions New York Yankees In 1949 the New York Yankees won the first of their five consecutive World Series championships. Led by the aging Joe DiMaggio and a crack pitching staff led by Vic Raschi, Ed Lopat, and Allie Reynolds, the Yankees won 97 regular season games during manager Casey Stengel’s first year with the team. Their World Series foe was the Brooklyn Dodgers, a team the Yankees would face 11 times in the Fall Classic. This bat in Casey’s home in Glendale, California according the letter of provenance that accompanies this item.

The bat has the engraved signatures and printed names of Casey Stengel, whose signature is the most prominent on the barrel, Joe DiMaggio, Phil Rizzuto, John Lindell, Ed Lopat, Joe Page, Hank Bauer, Bobby Brown, Gene Woodling, Billy Johnson Bob Porterfield, Allie Reynolds, Cliff Mapes, Frank Shea, Ralph Buxton, Joe Collins, Fenton Mole, Hugh Casey, Ralph Houk, Bill Dickey, Hugh Casey, Tommy Byrne, Clarence Marshall, Duane Pillette, Wally Hood, Frank Crosetti, Jim Turner, Charlie Keller, Charlie Silvera, Vic Raschi, Johnny Mize, George Stirnweiss and Tom Henrich. Also engraved on the Louisville Slugger bat is “NEW YORK YANKEES WORLD CHAMPIONS 1949”. This item comes with a letter of provenance from Ryan Poland, who details the lineage of his family in relation to Casey Stengel and how this bat was acquired.
