This is a one-of-a-kind item – a piece of baseball memorabilia on a basketball, featuring one of the greatest players in New York Yankees history.  The centerfielder played his first game for the Yankees in 1951 at the age of 19, eventually replacing another legend, Joe DiMaggio, in centerfield. During his 18-year career with the Yankees, the switch-hitting slugger hit 536 home runs and was voted the American League's Most Valuable Player three times (1956–57, 1962). In 1956, he won the American League triple crown with 52 home runs, 130 runs batted in and a .353 batting average.

Offered is an official NBA game basketball, signed in silver metallic paint pen by Baseball Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle, over a hand-painted head and shoulder portrait of the Yankees legend and an action vignette of “Number 7” in center field catching a fly ball. Mantle has signed his name across the panel above the painted image, in the blank panel above the black embossed Spalding stamp on the orange leather ball (David Stern, Commissioner). The colorful painting depicts Mantle in his white Yankees home pinstriped uniform and navy-blue cap. This item comes with a full LOA from JSA (BB30502).
