The FIFA Confederations Cup is a key tuneup for the FIFA World Cup, pitting the winners of the six continental championships against each other in a true test of soccer supremacy. The 2013 edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup was hosted by Brazil, who would host the 2014 FIFA World Cup the next year. Brazil were the team to beat the entire tournament, going undefeated in the group stage and defeating Uruguay 2-1 in the semifinals. Spain, the winners of the 2010 World Cup and the previous two European Championships, were the opponent for Brazil at the Maracanã in Rio de Janeiro. Fred got Brazil off to a flyer with a goal in the second minute before scoring his second goal two minutes after halftime. Neymar scored Brazil’s second goal in the 44th minute, sending the selecao to a deserved 3-0 win over the UEFA champs. Neymar earned the Golden Ball of the tournament, while “El Niño” Fernando Torres won the Golden Boot.

Offered in this lot is a winners’ medal from the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup. The medal is gold in color, with “FIFA Confederations Cup Brazil 2013” and the Confederations Cup trophy etched on the front in high relief. “FIFA” is etched in high relief on the opposite side of the medal. This medal comes in the original presentation box and is accompanied by a LOA from Alexandre Silva Da Silveira, an official with the Brazilian Soccer Confederation.
