Offered is a late 1960’s cardboard advertising display of Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver for Royal Crown (“RC”) Cola. This display was used in New York area supermarkets and grocery stores to promote the brand. The 18 x 48-inch color cardboard display features Seaver, in his home Mets uniform, holding a six pack of RC Cola bottles atop a placard which reads “Royal Crown Cola Win With The Mets Sweepstakes” in light blue, red and black letters and the New York Mets logo in white, blue and orange on a yellow background.  The top of the display has some wear with two folds, a wrinkle across the center of the RC Cola six-pack, a corner tear on the right side of the placard, a bent corner in the lower right, and a tear on the lower right. The top of Seaver’s cap has a white thumbtack in the center.

Seaver played a big role in the storybook 1969 Mets season that ended with their first World Series victory. While with the Mets, Seaver won the National League Rookie of the Year Award in 1967 and won three NL Cy Young Awards as the league's best pitcher. He was a 12-time All-Star. Seaver is the Mets' all-time leader in wins, and he threw a no-hitter in 1978. During a 20-year MLB career, Seaver compiled 311 wins, 3,640 strikeouts, 61 shutouts and a 2.86 earned run average. He was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1992.
