Offered here is a very rare Seattle Pilots cap worn by Skip Lockwood during the 1969 spring training. 1969 was the only season for the expansion team that joined the American League, along with the Kansas Royals in the newly formed AL West. As such, any game used items from the Pilots’ era, as short lived as it was, is rare.

This wool cap features an “S” embroidered on the front in gold-colored stitching, with a horizontal gold piping line beneath. On the brim are gold branches on each side. The cap has six panels with an expandable back. Lockwood’s number “42” is handwritten in black marker on the green underside brim and Lockwood has signed his name in black marker top of the brim between the gold branches. This hat displays moderate to heavy use with some loose material on the outer brim and sweat stains on the interior. This comes with a LOA from JT Sports for the game use and a LOA from JSA for the signature.
