The New York Yankees have had their share of post-season success, and this unique jersey is part of that legacy. Game worn by Robinson Cano on October 9, in Game 3 of the 2010 ALDS vs. the Minnesota Twins, this home Yankee Pinstripe jersey, #24, bears patches honoring 2 legendary Yankee personalities. The first patch, honoring the passing of long-time Yankees owner George Steinbrenner on July 13, 2010, reads “George M. Steinbrenner III * GMS * “The Boss””, and is stitched above the NY logo on the left chest. The second patch, on the left sleeve, honors long-time Yankee Stadium announcer Bob Sheppard, who passed away just two days before Steinbrenner on July 11. This patch reads “Bob Sheppard * The Voice of Yankee Stadium” beneath the image of a microphone. Incidentally, Cano went 2-4 at the plate with a triple and 2 runs scored in helping the Yankees sweep the Twins to advance to the 2010 ALCS. With that performance, the jersey shows evidence of moderate game usage. The Majestic manufacturer’s tag is located on the lower left of the front tail, and includes MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ13633). This jersey is also accompanied by an LOA from Steiner, as well as a 8 x 10 photograph of Cano from MLB.com wearing the jersey.
