Offered is a lot of two 1960’s era Major League Baseball batting helmets (no ear flaps!), representing the two teams that competed against each other in the 1967 World Series, the Boston Red Sox and the triumphant St. Louis Cardinals. The Cards won the 1967 Series in seven games.

The first item in this lot is a Boston Red Sox batting helmet, with the signatures of 1967 Red Sox manager and Hall of Famer Dick Williams, 1967 triple crown winner and Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski (who won the Most Valuable Player award for his 1967 performance) and ace pitcher Jim Lonborg, who won the American League Cy Young Award. All three signatures are in silver marker on the blue plastic helmet; Williams has signed above the red with white outline “B” decal on the front of the helmet, while Yastrzemski and Lonborg have signed on the visor. They led the “Impossible Dream” Red Sox who reached the World Series by emerging victorious from a dramatic four-team pennant race that revitalized interest in the team after eight straight losing seasons. The second item in this lot is a red plastic St. Louis Cardinals batting helmet. The helmet shows signs of wear with white spots and streaks and has the interlocking “STL” logo decal in white with black border on the front. Each side of the helmet has a red, white, black and yellow St. Louis Cardinals logo decal with the redbird astride a yellow baseball bat over a white baseball. There is a small “chip” in the center front of the visor. The 1967 Cardinals won 101 games en route to the National League pennant, with a team featuring All-Stars Orlando Cepeda (selected as the National League Most Valuable Player), Lou Brock, Tim McCarver, and 1967 World Series MVP Bob Gibson, as well as former two-time American League MVP Roger Maris and Curt Flood.
