If Roger Clemens two-year stint in Toronto was simply an audition for the New York Yankees after 13 years in Boston, he couldn’t have done a better job. After inking a two-year $16.9 million deal with the Blue Jays prior to the 1997 season, Clemens captured the pitcher’s Triple Crown and AL CY Young Award in both of his two years with Toronto. Clemens led the AL with 21 wins, a 2.05 ERA and 292 strikeouts in 1997 and followed up with 20 wins, a 2.65 ERA and 271 strikeouts in 1998. He wore this royal blue, New ERA Authentic Diamond Collection 7 3/8 size Blue Jays hat with the club, which is signed in bold black Sharpie on the underside of the brim with a “21” inscription. The hat is tagged with PSA/DNA authentication sticker #J79514.
