Early in the 2011 season, Ortiz knocked in his 1,004th career run, making him the all-time RBI leader for designated hitters. Days later he joined Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice and Dwight Evans as the only Red Sox to reach 300 home runs.

Ortiz used this Rawlings A456B model bat during the 2011 season. This bat displays excellent game use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. There is a light coating of pine tar on the handle and the lower knob is taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip. The model number “A456B”, the order number “004” and the year “11” have been stamped on the knob. Ortiz has signed his name on the barrel in silver marker and inscribed “34” and “BP”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B06319) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.5. Additionally, there is a LOA from JSA (Y84487) for his signature.
