Offered are six truly unique black and white photos of various 1961 New York Yankee Spring Training events. This was the first season in over a decade without Casey Stengel at the helm, and it brought out Joe DiMaggio back to camp as a special instructor. It is no secret Joe DiMaggio was not fond of Stengel, and stayed away after he retired. These large 11” x 14” photos are all printed on heavy paper stock, with one photo being printed on thick cardboard. Includes: 1) DiMaggio, Mantle, Maris – The two HOFers are outside cage smiling while Maris takes his cuts; 2) Mantle/Maris – on each side of unknown player; 3) Mantle – picking up bats; 4) Mantle/Houk – Mickey signing his contract. 5) DiMaggio – with glove, smiling ready to take the field to show the kids how it’s done; 6) Starting pitchers – Ralph Terry, Bill Stafford, Whitey Ford and Bud Daley. This is a collection of very unique photos, which could have been taken by a team photographer, catching many Yankee greats in relaxed poses, including Mantle and DiMaggio. Excellent condition overall with light edge wear and corner wrinkling, none of which disrupt the images of these Yankee greats.
