This game worn and signed Don Mattingly New York Yankees button-down road jersey is a fittingly symbolic physical manifestation of Donnie Baseball’s dignified 14-year career. An honorable link in the lineage of legendary Yankees lore though he never got taste of World Series champagne Mattingly bridged the gap of great Yankees captains from Thurman Munson (1976-1979) to Derek Jeter (2003-214) and with no disrespect to the other team captains that served in between (Graig Nettles, 1982-1984, Willie Randolph 1975-1992, and Ron Guidry 1975-1988) they did not possess that quintessential Yankees essence that Mattingly embodied.

Mattingly wore this size 42 Yankees road jersey during his final three seasons with the team from 1993-1995. This jersey has been photo matched to the July 28th, 1993 game where Mattingly went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored in the Yankees 12-7 victory at Detroit. The jersey also has remnants of the “7” patch that was worn in August until the end of the 1995 season in tribute to the late Mickey Mantle, making this a great multi-season jersey. Mattingly’s number 23 is sewn on in navy tackle and white twill on the back and “NEW YORK” is sewn on across the chest in navy and white tackle twill. Each sleeve is capped with a ribbed navy and white pattern and the Russell Athletic tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail. This jersey comes with a LOA from Steiner Sports and a LOA from Resolution Photomatching (426105), who have photo matched this jersey to the July 28th, 1993 game.
