The Hall of Fame centerfielder Ken Griffey Jr. wore this navy Seattle Mariners batting helmet during the 1994 MLB season. Griffey started the 1994 season on an unprecedented hot streak, crushing 30 homers in the Mariners first 65 games of the season. Unfortunately, factors outside of Griffey’s control ended the 1994 season prematurely, although “The Kid” still led the American League with 40 homers. Griffey ended the season with a Triple Crown slash line of .323/40/90, an All-Star selection, a Gold Glove, and a Silver Slugger. Griffey finished second in the American League Most Valuable Player race despite having a higher Wins Above Replacement than the winner of the MVP, Frank Thomas. Griffey played in the majors until 2010, returning to the Mariners for the final two seasons of his career. In 2016, Griffey was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility, appearing on 437 of 440 ballots cast.

This offered Mariners batting helmet is monochrome navy, with the Mariners “S” logo applied to the front of the helmet. The flap is located over the right ear. Griffey has signed the brim of this helmet in silver marker. The helmet comes with a LOA from JT Sports for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A52557) for the signature.
