For generations the mark of the best batsman in baseball has been the famous Silver Bat Award. No one was more familiar with this prestigious trophy than San Diego’s Tony Gwynn for he was the recipient of 8 of these awards. This one dates to his 1995 season when his .368 average was the best in the National League. The sterling-plated bat, weighing approximately 25 ounces and measuring 33 3/4 inches, features the engraving “BATTING CHAMPION 1995,” “NATIONAL LEAGUE” AND “B.A. .368” vertically across three lines at the center of the barrel. Gwynn’s signature is engraved at the head of the barrel, with the Louisville Slugger manufacturer markings fixated where the handle meets the barrel. The piece shows light abrasions from display. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B12332).
