Colorado Rockies centerfielder Charlie Blackmon wore this purple Rockies jersey for three games during the 2017 MLB season. The first game, against the Diamondbacks at Chase Field on June 30th, saw Blackmon go 2-5 with a solo homer in Colorado’s 6-3 victory over Robbie Ray and the D-Backs. This was Blackmon’s 17th homer of the year and the 91st of his career. Blackmon’s second game in this jersey came on August 3rd, when the New York Mets came to visit Coors Field. The Georgia Tech product went 3-4 with a home run, double, intentional walk, and two runs scored in the Rockies 5-4 win. This was Blackmon’s 25th homer of the 2017 season and the 99th of his career. In Blackmon’s final game in this jersey, the Milwaukee Brewers came to Coors Field for the first game of a three-game series on August 18th. Blackmon went 2-3 in this game, drawing an intentional walk and crushing his 29th homer of the season off Matt Garza to power the Rockies to an 8-4 win.
Blackmon had the best year of his career in 2017, winning the National League batting title with a sky-high .331 batting average. Blackmon led all of baseball in runs (137), hits (213), triples (14), and total bases (387) while making his second career All-Star team. At the end of the year, Blackmon was awarded his second consecutive National League Silver Slugger award. Blackmon set career highs in home runs and RBI in 2017, putting up 37 and 104, respectively.
