Offered in this lot are two unique items from the career of Michelle Akers, the FIFA Woman Co-Player of the 20th century. Akers scored the first goal in United States Women’s National Soccer Team history in 1985 and led the USWNT to a pair of FIFA World Cup titles in 1991 and 1999. The United States centurion steered the USWNT to a gold medal in the inaugural women’s soccer tournament at the 1996 Atlanta Summer Olympics.

The first item in this lot is a blue Nike long-sleeved jacket with “US National Team Special Edition” sewn on the right chest in white lettering. A Nike tag and a washing instructions tag are sewn on the back inside collar, with an “M” hand-written in black marker on the washing instructions tag. Akers has signed the chest of this jacket in silver marker, inscribing “#10” and “USA” in addition to her signature. The second item in this lot is a gray sweatshirt commemorating the 100th anniversary of United States Soccer. This gray crewneck sweater has “United States Soccer” and “1913” printed on the chest in navy. A blue pocket is present on the front of the jersey, and a centennial tag is sewn on the back inside collar. Akers has signed the chest of this sweater in black marker, inscribing “#10” and “USA” in addition to her signature. This lot comes with a LOA signed by Michelle Akers. A portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue and Outreach Inc.
