In 1989, the Oakland Athletics overcame an act of God to win the World Series against their rivals from across the bay, the San Francisco Giants. The A’s won 99 games that season and defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in five games to clinch the pennant. In the World Series, the first cross-town battle since 1956, the A’s never trailed, sweeping the Giants in four games. However, this World Series was not without drama, as a magnitude 6.9 earthquake ripped through the Bay Area mere moments before Game 3 was slated to begin. Game 3 was postponed for 10 tens, delaying the inevitable A’s sweep until the 28th of October. The A’s never trailed in this World Series, thoroughly dominating the Giants to earn the A’s their ninth World Series title.

30 members of the 1989 World Champion Oakland A’s have signed this Official American League Bobby Brown baseball. Signatures include Hall of Famers Tony LaRuss, Dennis Eckersley and Rickey Henderson. Other signatures include Mark McGwire, Terry Steinbach, Dave Parker and Carney Lansford. This baseball comes with a LOA from JSA (BB34313).
