Behind a star-studded lineup featuring the likes of Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano, the New York Yankees cruised to a 103-59 record during the 2009 regular season. Jeter hit .334 to go along with 107 runs scored and 30 stolen bases. Cano hit .320, while Teixeira (39 home runs, 122 runs batted in) and Rodriguez (30 HRs, 100 RBIs) provided the power bats. On the mound, C.C. Sabathia won 19 games and closer Mariano Rivera was as dominant as ever, posting a 1.76 ERA to go along with his 44 saves. Manager Joe Girardi’s squad beat the Minnesota Twins and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to win the AL pennant, then defeated the defending World Champion Philadelphia Phillies, in six games, to win the World Series.
Offered here is a Balfour 14K gold 2009 New York Yankees World Series championship ring that was presented to Torre Tyson, who was then the manager of the Single A Charleston RiverDogs in Yankees' system. This ring features an abundance of diamonds that make up the team’s famed “NY” logo, an outlined depiction of a baseball field, and surround the bezel setting of a large blue colored stone. One side is centered by an image of Yankee Stadium, with “WORLD CHAMPIONS” appearing above in relief work and “2009” and “UNITY” below. The opposite side shows a team logo, the name “TYSON” and the word “TRADITION”. The inside of the band is marked “Balfour © 14K” and also includes “YANKEE STADIUM 2009 INAUGURAL SEASON” with an image of the stadium facade. This ring is an approximate size 11 and weighs approximately 47.9 grams. Included is the original wood presentation box, reading “WORLD CHAMPIONS 2009”.
