The 1958 Stanley Cup Finals was a repeat of the previous season with Montreal facing the Bruins for the second straight year. Montreal at this time was an unstoppable juggernaut on ice, appearing in the Finals for the 8th straight year and looking for their third consecutive Championship. They would get it with Bernie “Boom Boom” Geoffrion’s series winning goal in Game 6. That Geoffrion was even on the ice at all was a miracle as he had been severely injured in training that would have cost him his life had he not undergone emergency surgery. Yet true to his tough nature, six weeks later Boom Boom laced up his skates and joined his team in their quest for their 3rd consecutive Stanley Cup. This is the Stanley Cup presented to Hockey Hall of Famer “Boom Boom” Geoffrion. The base of the cup is engraved with a list of all the members of the 1957-58 Montreal Canadiens and the “cup” mounted at the top is engraved with “From Stanley of Preston” to honor the man who the NHL’s highest honor is named for. Measuring 12 ½ inches tall and a 6-inch base, this is a fine example of hockey’s greatest accomplishment. The Cup comes with a signed LOA from Bernie Geoffrion for the provenance.
