Graded GD 2 by SGC, the finest specimen validated by that company. Hall of Famer. Here's the impossibly rare, "key" piece from a cloyingly mysterious, virtually never-seen product. This blank-backed Lections card—whose original, intended purpose (as a redemption piece, a candy bar backing or, perhaps, a toy store prize) remains conjectural and unknown—showcases the unmistakable likeness of Babe Ruth in a 2"-tall oval at the left edge. The item measures 2-1/2" x 4" in total dimensions, and its corners are rounded, as made, in playing-card style. As typically observed in its obscure issue, wrinkles permeate the otherwise unmarked, white reverse, while the obverse presents nicely at the EX to EX/MT level. Fortuitously, the card's relatively minor physical faults have largely spared the most recognizable elements of Ruth's black-and-white photo, and the card's orange-inked caption and graphics stand fundamentally unimpaired in terms of visual impact. Fewer than one hundred Lections examples (combining all of the production's documented subjects) have been confirmed to exist, and the offered piece occupies the highest SGC tier assigned to a specimen of its type. Still-compelling Good condition.
