The Mets were beginning to forge their own Dynasty in the mid-1980s as they improved from a 98–64 record in 1985 to finish the 1986 season with a franchise record 108–54 record, giving them the division title and franchise win total that has yet to be challenged. They went on to defeat the Houston Astros in six games in the NLCS and the American League champion Boston Red Sox in seven games in the World Series, their last championship to date.
With only two World Series titles in their 57 year history, New York Mets World Championship mementos as ultra-sought after, even now 33 years later.
