The single-signed Babe Ruth ball is the most sought-after piece of baseball memorabilia in the world. His flowing signature on the sweet spot of a ball is one of the most beautiful items one can envision. When one decides to invest in a Ruth single-signed ball, there are many options from which to choose – a Murderer’s Row era ball, something from his later 1930’s career or a later in life example – but perhaps the most exclusive is an earlier specimen, one from the period the Babe was transitioning from the best left handed pitcher in baseball to the greatest home run hitter of all-time.
This Reach Official League ball was signed by Ruth during that special time period – 1918-1924 – the exact moment he was transforming himself from a baseball player into an international icon. The ball shows some use with overall toning from age. The Babe has signed the sweet spot in black fountain pen and a light coat of shellac has been applied. This protective coating has flaked away in some places, but none of this affects the majestic display quality of this early Babe Ruth single-signed ball. The ball comes with a LOA from JSA (BB30927) for the signature.
