After winning the World Series in 1932, The Yankees spent the next few seasons re-tooling for their next dynasty. While the team awaited the arrival of Joe DiMaggio and the other young players that would dominate the AL from 1936 to 1939, able performers such as Ben Chapman, Johnny Allen and Dixie Walker teamed up with veterans Red Ruffing, Lou Gehrig and Bill Dickey to keep great, if not pennant-winning baseball, at home in Yankee Stadium. This Spalding Official American League Harridge ball has been signed by 23 members of the 1934 Yanks including Hall of Famers Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Tony Lazzeri, Red Ruffing, Lefty Gomez, and Joe Sewell plus Johnny DeShong, Don Heffner, Danny MacFayden, Johnny Murphy, Red Rolfe, Johnny Broaca, Ben Chapman, Myril Hoag, Dixie Walker, Johnny Allen, Jack Saltzgaver, Art Jorgens, Frank Crosetti, Russ Van Atta, and Floyd Newkirk. The ball shows toning from age with some light staining, but the signatures remain clear on the white leather surface. This ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AF08640) for the signatures.
