In two tremendous back-to-back seasons, 1958-1959, Ernie Banks’ produced the explosive offensive numbers that made him a household name and a Chicago Cubs legend. During those two summers, Banks led the National League in RBI twice, home runs and slugging once and hit a combined 92 home runs. It was only natural that he would win the MVP Award both years, the first National Leaguer to do so.
This Hillerich & Bradsby S2 model bat was produced specifically for Banks’ use in the 1959 All-Star Game held in Pittsburgh. The bat shows good game use with several tremendous ball marks present. The barrel has been stamped with the custom “ALL STAR GAME PITTSBURGH 1959.” The model number “S2” is stamped into the knob and the bat has taken on a warm, golden hue with age. A beautiful Ernie Banks gamer from the best part of his Hall of Fame career. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B09631) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10, plus a LOA from MEARS (314107) that has been graded a perfect A10.
