The New York Yankees won 114 games during the 1998 regular season on their way to another World Series title in the franchise’s storied history. Starting pitcher David Wells – who was phenomenal that season, recording an 18-4 record – provided the Yankees with their most thrilling moment of the regular season on May 17, 1998. Facing the Minnesota Twins at home, Wells pitched a perfect game – 27 up, 27 down – while striking out 11 batters in New York’s 4-0 win. The 120-pitch perfecto moved Wells to 5-1 on the early season.

Offered here is a Balfour 10K gold 1998 David Wells perfect game ring that was presented to coach Willie Randolph. One larger round diamond is set in the middle of a baseball field image, with additional smaller diamonds set at the bases and home plate. “PERFECT GAME 1998” is displayed in relief work around the perimeter. One side of the ring shows an image of Yankee Stadium with “5/17/98” at the bottom. The opposite side shows a scoreboard, depicting the game’s line score and official time of day to commemorate the historic feat. “RANDOLPH” and “BALFOUR 10K” are engraved inside the band. This ring is an approximate size 10 and weighs approximately 27.4 grams. This ring comes directly from the collection of Willie Randolph and a signed LOA from Willie Randolph will accompany this item.
