There’s no other franchise in sports that honors their great players like the storied New York Yankees. Don Mattingly was one of those players and for 13 seasons, “Donnie Baseball” epitomized the grit and tenacity demanded by fans of the Bronx Bombers. On August 31st, 1997, Mattingly had his day to be honored by the Yankee faithful. Among the guests that appeared on field with Mattingly, was his long-time teammate Willie Randolph. Randolph was teammates with Mattingly from 1983 through 1988.
This offered crystal ice bucket was presented to Willie Randolph by the Yankees and measures 7 inches in diameter and is 7 ¼-inches tall. Etched in white on the front is a customized “DON MATTINGLY 23 DONNIE BASEBALL” logo feature the Yankee Stadium façade, the Yankees’ pinstripes and the Yankees’ logo. “1983 1995” is also worked into the logo identifying the years Mattingly played for the club and “AUGUST 31, 1997” is etched below the logo. There are two handles on each side and this crystal is in good condition. This item derives directly from the Willie Randolph Collection and a signed LOA from Willie Randolph will accompany this item.
