Willie Randolph was a standout player for the New York Yankees. A member of the 1977 and 1978 World Series-winning teams, Randolph was a steady presence at second base and at the plate. Randolph finished his career with 2,210 hits.

Throughout his distinguished career, Randolph received many awards, and one of them was the Thurman Munson Award, named for the late Yankees’ catcher that honors professional athletes for their achievements on the field, contributions in the community and to embody the spirit of Thurman Munson. Randolph was a teammate of Munson from 1976 until his tragic passing in a plane crash in 1979. Randolph was a recipient of the Thurman Munson Award in 1989 and received this 10 ¼ inch x 13 inch rounded award. 3-D bust images of Munson with the Yankees and with him as a football player and in his youth cover the front. “THE THURMAN AWARD” is etched on the top and flanked on both sides is “ASSOCIATION FOR THE HELP” on the left and “OF RETARED CHILDREN” on the right with “WILLIE RANDOLPH 1989” on a plate on the front. This award comes directly from the collection of Willie Randolph and a signed LOA from Randolph will accompany this item.
