Willie Randolph was a standout player for the New York Yankees. A member of the 1977 and 1978 World Series-winning teams, Randolph was a steady presence at second base and at the plate. Randolph finished his career with 2,210 hits and collected his 1,500th career hit during the September 22nd, 1986 game against the Baltimore Orioles at Memorial Stadium. What made this hit special was his milestone hit was a home run off Scott McGregor. Randolph, a consummate contact hitter, was not know for hitting the long-ball as this home run was his 38th of his 54 career home runs.
This offered baseball is the very ball Randolph hit for his 1,500th career hit and 38th career home run. This Official American League Bobby Brown baseball shows excellent game use with bat marks and other abrasions. Randolph has signed his name in blue pen across the sweet spot and inscribed “Hit # 1500 HR”. The side panel has boldly printed in a fine-tipped black marker “1500th Hit Homerun vs McGregor 9-22-86 Baltimore, Md. N.Y. 4 Balt. 2”. This baseball derives from the Willie Randolph Collection and comes with a signed LOA from Willie Randolph.
