Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith spent the balance of 1977 with Walla Walla tearing up the Northwest League pitching. He led the league with runs scored and all shortstops in assists, fielding percentage and double plays. The Padres invited the kid to spring training and he made the opening day lineup as a non-roster player. The rest, as they say, is history.

This Hillerich & Bradsby S315 model bat dates to Ozzie’s very first season in the Majors. The bat shows moderate use with a repaired handle crack. A few ball marks with stitch impressions are visible along with blue bat rack paint streaks. A moderate coat of pine tar is on the handle and the weight “29” is hand written on the knob with Smith’s number “1” in black marker. Ozzie has signed the barrel, completing this great Hall of Fame gamer. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B07361) for the game use and has been graded a GU 8 and a LOA from JSA for the signature.
