In 1980, Hollywood portrayed the violent and destructive life of middleweight American boxer Jake LaMotta. Robert DeNiro took on the role and earned an academy award. Today, the movie is considered one of the best films ever produced. DeNiro’s reputation as an actor is fait accompli.
This 11” x 14” black and white photograph shows DeNiro as LaMotta, arms and gloves raised in triumph. Clad in Everlast shorts and a leopard print robe, DeNiro/LaMotta gazes into the distance as the crowd behind him delights in his conquest.
