Offered in this lot is a collection of items used in Michelle Akers’ final USWNT game, as well as items used during the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Akers last appearance for her country came on August 20th, 2000 against Canada in Kansas City, Missouri. Kristine Lilly’s 74th minute penalty gave the United States their only goal in a 1-1 draw with their northern neighbors. Akers had scored five days previously in a 7-4 defeat of Russia for her final international goal.

The first item in this lot are Akers’ black Nike cleats from the Canada game. Akers inscribed “8-20-2000 Last Game” on the sole of the right shoe and “Vs Canada 1-1” on the left shoe. Akers has signed the Nike swoosh on the outside of the left shoe in black marker. The second item in this lot is Akers’ shoebag used during the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup and for her final game. This blue Nike bag has a white swoosh applied to the side, with Akers’ number “10” handwritten on the swoosh. Akers has signed and heavily inscribed this bag in silver marker, writing “Aug 20 2000 / Used At My Last Game / For The USWNT 1985-2000 / USA vs Canada”, “1999 World Cup Champs / My Shoebag 1999 WC”, and “1991 WC Champs / 1996 Olympic Gold”. The next item in this lot are two white Nike shin guards. Akers has signed both in black marker, inscribing “1999 WC Game Worn Champs” on one. A game used Nike wristband is included as well. Akers has signed this wristband in black marker. Finally, two wrapped PowerBars are included with the shoebag. This lot comes with a LOA from Michelle Akers. A portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue & Outreach Inc.
