Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway was the No. 1 overall pick in the 1983 draft by the Baltimore Colts in a draft rich in quarterback talent – including fellow Hall of Famers Jim Kelly and Dan Marino. After refusing to sign with the Colts, Elway was traded to the Denver Broncos and became the face of the franchise.

After two seasons, the Broncos opened up the passing game as Elway led the entire league with 605 passing attempts, which was up from the previous two seasons of 380 in 1984 and 259 in his rookie season of 1983. Elway would throw 22 touchdowns as he led the Broncos to an 11-5 record, but the Broncos lost out in a three-way tiebreaker with the New York Jets and New England Patriots for the two AFC Wildcard spots.

Offered here is the Denver Broncos road white mesh jersey worn by John Elway during the 1985 season. This size 46 jersey was manufactured by Russell Athletic and features Elway’s number “7” screen-printed in blue and orange on the front, back and sleeves. Blue and orange rings are applied on the sleeves and “ELWAY” is sewn on in blue tackle twill on a matching white mesh nameplate. The jersey displays moderate game use with some staining and toning due to age. Elway has signed this jersey in black marker on the back to the left of the number and inscribed “SB XXXIII MVP”. A great early-career gamer from one of the greatest quarterbacks of all-time. This jersey comes with a LOA from MEARS (316096) for the game use and has been graded a perfect A10. Additionally, there is a LOA from JSA for Elway’s signature.
