Offered is a framed display commemorating the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon, featuring the front page of the July 21, 1969 edition of The New York Times with the headline “MEN WALK ON MOON.”  The 14 x 22-inch broadsheet “Late City Edition” has the headline, the largest in the history of “the gray lady,” up to that date, and the sub-headline, “Astronauts Land on Plain; Collect Rocks, Plant Flag”. There are three black and white photographs on the front page, with images of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin coming out of the Lunar Excursion Module, and a photo of both astronauts together on the lunar surface setting up the American flag.

Below the newspaper at the left is a 4-inch embroidered cloth patch of the Apollo 11 logo, with a Bald Eagle landing on the Moon. At the center is a 2 x 6-inch black and silver engraved plaque with the legend “First Men on Moon Apollo 11 New York Times July 21, 1969”. At the bottom right is a 4-inch color button with the legend “America Salutes First Men on the Moon” reversed-out in white over red and blue panels, encircling a color photo of the three Apollo 11 astronauts – Armstrong, Collins and Aldrin – and the legend “Apollo XI July 1969” at the center. This is an original from 1969. The display is mounted in a royal blue paper matte with red borders and white cut-lines, within a 24½ x 37-inch brown wood frame and glass.
