After a series of injuries decimated the team’s catching corps, the New York Mets called up Jose Reyes from Norfolk. In 69 games, the rookie batted north of .300 including a grand slam home run, all before he turned 20. Reyes provided a taste of things to come with a .307 batting average and 13 stolen bases.
