Offered is a 7.25” x 10.5” handwritten letter signed very boldly in black marker ‘“Pistol Pete” Maravich.’ The letter was written by Maravich’s father, Petar “Press” Maravich, on “FRANK J. JERVEY THE CLEMSON HOUSE” letterhead to George Dostal, who was Clemson University’s Strength and Conditioning coach from 1977-1982. Press Maravich was Clemson’s head basketball coach from 1956-1962. Jervey, a World War I hero, was known as “Mr. Clemson.” The text reads, “Coach Dostal, Pete and I want to personally thank you for the hospitality and the warm reception you gave us. Sports have changed. A “strength coach” to my way of thinking is a vital cog in the success or failure of any sport. Pete and I feel you are a ‘giant of a man’ in your field. Only recently has your profession sprung to the forefront. We wish you continued success and say, “Thanks a million.” Signed “Press” and ‘“Pistol Pete” Maravich’ very bold and mint. The letter is in very good condition, but has usual folds horizontally and vertically across the middle, and slight stain in the middle. A very interesting piece, relating to four esteemed members of the college sports world. Comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA.
