In 1952, Mickey Mantle took his place on the Major League Baseball stage as the next big star, replacing the retired Joe DiMaggio as the starting centerfielder for the New York Yankees. After making his debut in the second half of the 1951 season, Mantle was selected as an All-Star for the first time in 1952. In the 1952 World Series, Mantle was the Yankees hitting star, with an on-base percentage above .400 and a slugging percentage above .600. He homered for the third Yankee run in a 3-2 Game 6 win and he knocked in the winning runs in the 4-2 Game 7 win, with a homer in the sixth inning and an RBI single in the seventh inning.

Presented is a framed collage celebrating Mantle’s 1952 season, featuring his signature and a copy of his 1952 Topps baseball card. Mantle has signed his name in black pen on an 8 x 10-inch sepia-toned photograph of the young Yankees slugger posed with a bat over his right shoulder in the outfield during Spring Training. To the right of the photo is a gold metal plaque with the legend, engraved in black, “Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps Limited Edition 1736/1952”. Below the plaque is the famous Mickey Mantle 1952 Topps baseball card, perhaps the most recognizable sports card in the entire hobby and the anchor of the most important post-war set in existence. Strangely enough, it is not Mickey Mantle's official rookie card, but there is no question that it is the slugger's most important card. The photo, plaque and baseball card are mounted in a white paper matte with royal blue borders, within a 12 x 16-inch black metal and glass frame. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A52911).
