Brazilian outfit Palmeiras won their first Copa Libertadores title with a two-legged victory over Colombian powers Deportivo Cali. Palmeiras overturned their 1-0 defeat in Colombia in the first leg of the finals with a 2-1 victory in Sao Paulo in the second match, leading to a tense penalty shootout under the lights at Parque Antartica. Despite Zinho missing the first penalty of the shootout, Palmeiras rallied to win the spot-kick battle 4-3 after Cali’s captain Martin Zapata missed the final penalty for the Colombians. Palmeiras had last made the Copa Libertadores final in 1968, ending over 30 years of struggle for Brazil’s statistically most successful domestic club. This offered medal is gold in color, with “Copa Toyota Libertadores De America” and the Copa Libertadores trophy etched in high relief on the front. “Al Campeon 1999” is also etched on the front. Etched on the back is a CSF logo. This medal comes with a LOA from the Team Soccer Coordinator.
