Presented is a dual-signed Bill Hanna and Joe Barbara limited edition hand-painted cel illustration featuring characters from the 1960s television cartoon series, “The Flintstones.” The animation studio heads have signed their names in black marker on the cel in the lower center of the illustration, which is a winter scene in the town of Bedrock. The featured characters Fred and Wilma Flintstone are depicted skating in the center, while their daughter Pebbles is building a snow “saber tooth tiger” with her grandmother, their pet Dino is skating to their right, and their neighbors Barney and Betty are on skates in the lower right. Barney is falling on the ice, while Betty is putting on her skates, and their son, Bam-Bam, is riding in a small sleigh.  Other characters and animals fill the background. The full-color 23 x 40-inch image is mounted in a black paper matte with silver borders, within a 30 x 47-inch silver wood and glass frame. Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera formed their own animation studio in 1957, after leaving Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s animation studio. The pair created the characters Tom and Jerry for MGM, and then created a variety of popular animated characters and a succession of cartoon series, including The Flintstones, The Yogi Bear Show, The Jetsons, Wacky Races, Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and The Smurfs.
