Gene Autry, nicknamed “The Singing Cowboy,” was a singer, songwriter, actor, musician and rodeo performer who gained fame largely by singing in a crooning style on radio, in films, and on television for more than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. Autry was the owner of a television station, several radio stations in Southern California, and the Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels Major League Baseball team from 1961 to his death in 1997. He is best known to current generations as the writer of the hit song, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Offered is a commemorative marble desk pen holder featuring a multi-signed baseball with 33 signatures in blue pen of players in attendance at the California Angels Old Timers Game from Anaheim Stadium in 1976. The multi-signed baseball is stored in a clear plastic holder atop the 4 ½ x 10-inch white marble base, with a pair of silver metal pen holders at either side of the ball.
