The friendship of New York Yankees stars Mickey Mantle and Billy Martin lasted from their time together on the great Yankees teams of the 1950s through Martin’s 1989 death. Stories of their antics both on and off the field are numerous, and some of their exploits have become legendary. While only teammates from 1955 to 1957, the centerfielder and the second baseman were fast friends.
Offered is a dual-signed photograph of the pair in their Yankee pinstripes, with bats poised over their left shoulders. Mantle has signed his name in blue marker, while Martin has signed his name in blue pen. The photo captures the pair on the third base line in an unknown, empty stadium as the background. The 8 x 10-inch color photograph is mounted in a navy-blue paper matte with the Yankees iconic interlocking “NY” logo inscribed in white, with a white border around the photograph and a white stripe around the edge of the matte, within a 14 x 18-inch black wood frame and glass. This item comes with a full LOA from JSA (B49736).
