Located on the campus of Howard University, Griffith Stadium played host to the Washington Nationals/Senators of Major League Baseball and the NFL’s Washington Redskins. The stadium opened April 12, 1911 and had a seating capacity of 27,410. Griffith Stadium closed for good on September 21, 1961 and was demolished in January of 1965. Offered here is a Griffith Stadium authentic wooden seat, hunter green in color, which displays a plate listing the years of the stadium’s tenants. This functional seat – which includes a metal frame and base – shows obvious use. Measurements are approximately 32 inches high x 21 ½ inches wide.
