Considered by many to be the best baseball player who ever lived, Babe Ruth was truly ahead of his time when he played the game. During his 22-year career that ended in 1935, he totaled 714 HRs, a figure that wasn’t broken until Hank Aaron hit his 715th HR in 1974. This vintage Spalding Challenger glove is golden-brown with a few stains and signs of usage. The owner’s name is written on the wristband in black ink, while Babe Ruth’s inscribed name on the glove is faded from use; the lacing between the fingers is missing, and the leather trim above the wristband is cracked. The webbing and wristband are still intact; the leather is supple, and the Spalding stamp on the mitt is easily visible.
