Offered is an extremely rare and desirable pin which is from the period where Jackie Robinson broke the color barrier. During the 1947 season, there were quite a few pins issued of Robinson, a very popular player as soon as he stepped on the field. This pin features Robinson in a pinstriped jersey and has “JACKIE ROBINSON DODGERS” along the bottom. As the Dodgers did not wear pinstriped jerseys, the Kansas City Monarchs, Robinson’s Negro League team did. What makes this pin very desirable is the attachments of the ribbon and bat/baseball combination. The pin measures 1.75” in diameter, and from top to bottom, the pin is 4” in length. The face is superbly clean, with nary a scratch, and the attachments are complete and in great condition. The reverse has some spotting on the silver backing. This rare pin is in tremendous condition, includes all the added pieces and is from the era where Jackie Robinson forever changed the great game of baseball. Excellent condition.
