The New York Yankees began a new chapter in their deep seeded baseball history in 1995 when the likes of Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, Andy Pettitte and Jorge Posada made their big-league debuts.  This group would go on to Win the World Series a total of five times over the next 15 seasons while also winning a total of seven American League pennants.  Pettitte competed nearly all season with the club, while Jeter debuted on May 29th and played in only 15 games prior to being sent down to the minor league.  He would return later in the season and was on the postseason roster although not participating in any games.  Jorge Posada made his MLB debut in 1995 as well replacing Jim Leyritz in the ninth inning of a game on Sept 4th.  This would be the only game he played in during the regular season, however he also was included in the postseason roster and appeared as a pinch runner in Game 2 of the ALDS.  Rivera, like Pettitte played most of the season with the Yankees after making his big-league debut as a starter on May 23rd replacing the injured Jimmy Key.  After struggling in his first four starts, he would be demoted to Columbus on June 11th.  While in Columbus, Rivera’s velocity greatly improved and he came back up the Yankees in July and made several more starts prior to being moved to the bullpen in September.  Rivera too was part of the ALDS roster and had the best showing of the core, pitching 5 1/3 scoreless innings in relief.  The Yankees would go on to lose to the Mariners in five games in the ALDS, but the passing of the torch had just begun.

This 1995 New York Yankees Team Signed baseball features a total of 21 signatures and comes from the collection of Willie Randolph, who was a coach during the 1995 season.  Randolph explained that this baseball was most likely signed during the final weeks of the regular season in 1995 when the rosters were extended or during the ALDS, making this one of the few and only 1995 Yankees team baseballs that feature both the former and future Yankee Captains Don Mattingly and Derek Jeter, as well as includes manager Buck Showalter.  The baseball, while showing its age as several signatures have begun to fade and moderate toning is present also includes signatures of rookies Mariano Rivera and Jorge Posada as well as veterans like David Cone, Wade Boggs, and Jimmy Key.  The baseball is accompanied by a LOA from Willie Randolph.
