Los Angeles Rams Hall of Fame defensive lineman Deacon Jones wore this white Rams road jersey in 1971, during his final season with the team. Jones, who allegedly coined the term “sack” during the 1960’s, was a punishingly strong lineman with unmatched speed for the Rams “Fearsome Foursome” defensive line of Jones, Merlin Olsen, Rosey Grier, and Lamar Lundy in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. It is estimated that Jones finished his 14-year career with 173.5 sacks, good enough for third place on the all-time list. Jones was an eight-time Pro Bowler and five-time First Team All-Pro selection, as well as the Defensive Player of the Year in 1967 and 1968. Jones retired after the 1974 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1980.

Jones wore this offered white Rams road jersey in three games during the 1971 season and has been photo matched to an undated image by Resolution Photomatching. Jones recorded an estimated 4.5 sacks in 1971 as the Rams finished 8-5-1, good for second place in the NFC West. This jersey has Jones’ number “75” screen-printed on the chest, back, and shoulders in blue numerals. “JONES” is printed across the back shoulders in blue lettering over a matching white nameplate. Blue stripes accent the shoulder and a buttoned crotch strap is present on the jersey. The collar is blue and numerous team repairs are found on the jersey. An “XL” size tag and a washing instructions tag are sewn on the tail of this historic jersey. This jersey comes with a LOA from Resolution Photomatching (426095).
