As the game’s premier bat maker, Hillerich & Bradsby had to also be the most experimental. One of the company’s innovations was the Cork Grip. The bat maker applied this new grip application to a variety of store models, most notably, the Babe Ruth 40k model. This is one of the more exquisite examples of this short-lived model. Showing heavy use, with many ball marks and cleat impressions throughout, the bat’s cork handle has been restored, giving the piece the complete appearance that is often lacking on existing cork grip bats from this era. The wood has aged to a dark, warm sepia and Ruth’s stamped signature displays nicely on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18224) for the game use.
