Jacob Ruppert made his fortune in beer, served four terms in the U.S. Congress, but made his name with the New York Yankees. Ruppert bought the team in 1915, and until his death in 1939 was owner through 10 World Series appearances with seven titles. This 9” x 3.25” check is stamped with “The American League Baseball Club of New York, Inc.” at the top, and is dated May 5th, 1925.” A very bold, “Jacob Ruppert” black fountain pen signature, grades a perfect (“10”). Along the left side is the signature of “Ed Barrow” grading a solid (“8”). Each signature is unaffected by the various stamps and punch cancellations. Both men were elected to the Hall of Fame, Barrow in 1953 and Ruppert this past year. The check has been authenticated by PSA/DNA and is encased in their protective holder.
