In his first season with the Philadelphia Eagles, quarterback Roman Gabriel had a career-season by leading the NFL in completions (270), yards (3,219) and touchdowns (23) as he earned his fourth and final Pro Bowl selection. Gabriel wore this very rare NFC Pro Bowl helmet for the 1974 game held following the 1973 season. This size 7 3/8 now off-white helmet has a single gray facemask bar and each side has a block letter “N” decal applied in blue with red borders. The helmet displays heavy use with paint chipping and other abrasion marks. The interior padding is still fully intact with the number “3” printed on the inside back pad. There is also a piece of white equipment tape affixed to the inside right ear that has handwritten “Game Helmet Gabriel”. Gabriel has signed his name in black marker on both sides of the top of the helmet and each inscription reads “18” and “NFL PRO BOWL HELMET JAN. 20, 1974.” This helmet comes with a LOA from PM&G, Inc for the game use and a LOA from PSA/DNA (AF08728).
